Seth Meyers on His Emmys Host Potential: ‘I Hope Jimmy Keeps Doing It’
As Seth Meyers hikes the mile markers ofJimmy Fallon’s career path – from “Saturday Night Live” to “Late Night” there’s one hosting gig he’s hoping to avoid: The Emmys 2014 onNBC.
“I hope Jimmy (Fallon) keeps doing it, so I don’t have to,” Meyers told TheWrap during a celebration for his Gotham Magazine cover inNew York Monday night.
Fallon hosted the last NBC Emmys telecast, in 2010. Meyers is due.
As Meyers takes over “Late Night” from his “Weekend Update” predecessor next February (on the same night that Fallon begins his “Tonight Show” run) he would seem to be a default choice to push forward. His hosting resume already includes two spins on the Nokia stage as the ESPYs host and makingPresident Obama crack up at the retroactively historic pre-Bin Laden raid White House Correspondents Dinner.
